Scott Brawner is an accomplished international performer, educator, and specialist in percussion and steel pan (also known as steel drums). With over 30 years of dedicated experience playing this iconic Caribbean instrument, Scott brings authentic passion and expertise to his teaching and performances, delighting audiences and students alike with the joyful sounds of the tropics.

He holds both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Music Education from the University of Louisville and is currently pursuing his Rank I certification. A member of the Kentucky Music Educators Association, Scott is also an avid arranger and performer. He has presented concerts and masterclasses on steel pan at institutions including Jefferson Community and Technical College, Bellarmine University, the University of Louisville, Western Wyoming Community College, and Cleveland State Community College.

Scott's professional journey includes living and working on the Caribbean island of Sint Maarten (St. Maarten), where he served as a professional steel drummer and educator. There, he collaborated and performed with renowned artist the Mighty Dow, one of the island's most successful musicians.

Now based in Augusta, Kentucky, Scott serves as Band Director at Augusta Independent Schools, where he has pioneered steel pan programs, including workshops, student ensembles (such as 5th-grade steel orchestras), and community performances. Through his group, Caribbean Melody Makers, he offers beginner-friendly "tourist" classes, advanced instruction, live performances of Caribbean music across Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana, and recorded releases on the band self titled album in 2025. His classes emphasize the rich history of steel pan while teaching fundamental skills in a fun, inclusive environment suitable for all ages and levels—individuals, families, and groups.
